Technology and SDG 1 – No Poverty
Introduction and definition of SDG 1:
SDG 1 addresses the topic of global poverty, defining poverty as daily wage of $1.25 or less.
Like many of the SDGs, No Poverty is closely linked to many of the others, for example, poverty rates are impacted by eduction (SDG 4), equality (SDG 5 and SDG 10), decent work (SDG 8) plus others, including environmental factors such as health, climate, environment and biodiversity (SDGs 3, 13, 14, and 15).
Natural disasters have a huge impact on poverty, as an example, COVID-19 pushed 71 million more people into poverty and saw the first rise on global numbers in decades.
