With an increasing percentage of the global population living in urban and city environments, sustainable, safe and inclusive settlements and cities are a priority.
SDG 11 address safe, affordable housing as well as the protection fo natural and cultural heritage.
Like many of the SDGs, this one sits alongside many others. By way of example, air pollution in cities causes millions of premature deaths a year, and is also a component of SDG 3 (Good Health). Target 11.6 looks specifically at air quality and maniple waste.
