The carbon tracking and footprint measurement sector is booming right now.
This Sydney based climate start-up, Trace, has already on-boarded 250 companies, and plans to use their recent funding to help expand and reach their 1000 customer target by the end of the year.
It’s great to see how Trace’s platform goes beyond footprint calculation, and education and actually enables climate-positive actions with a focus on SDG related projects.
Their approach for small-businesses seems to be a little more consultative than the self-serve model we commonly see. They treat each business individually, aiming to deliver a report within one week that is ~80% accurate. The areas they typically look to include are:, Materials and manufacturing, Freight and logistics, Packaging, Customer deliveries, Building energy usage, Staff (remote work, commuting and travel).
From a consumer point of view, they work on average emission data for your country, and allow you to choose more, or less climate-active plans, from Mini to Big. Their medium plan is punchily described as “The perfect plan for climate conscious hypocrites aka most of us!”
